It's about transformation

Getting the Word of God into the hands and hearts of people has a transforming effect. It shines the light of Christ in dark places, and brings hope to the hopeless.

"For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins."  -Colossians 1:13 (NASB)

Once the New Testament got into the hands of the Amele people of Papua New Guinea, and they began to read God's Word in their mother tongue, transformation began. They needed to hear God's Word in their own language to truly understand and be transformed.

As one Amele man explained, “I thought that going to church and playing the part of a Christian on the outside was a means of getting something from God. Now I see that there is so much more to Christianity than this. God wants me to be transformed on the inside."

"Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect."  -Romans 12:2 (NLT)
